A necessary reminder for children and adults alike.
Opening with a scene with a young man bouncing about the house, my son AIdyn, resonated with Avery immediately. We see a full range of emotions for our main character as he spirals from immense fun to boredom and then joy all over again.
The author uses an occurrence that impacts many families– a power outage. As Avery searches for something to keep his attention, our children have the opportunity to put themselves in Avery’s shoes and consider how they would handle the situation as well. Finding joy in enjoying family time is the ultimate win for all involved.
The author gives us positive images of the family for all to enjoy. We see Avery’s family enjoying moments of togetherness, exploring the breadth of their vocabulary, and playing new games together.
